Lincoln in Art – Searching for the Exact Location of America’s Soul: An Artist’s Pursuit

Presenter: Wendy Allen, Prominent Abraham Lincoln Artist and Author

The Lincoln Group of DC is proud to announce that our January 21, 2020 speaker will be Wendy Allen.
Allen, author of Lincoln Into Art: The First Thirty Years (2013), is known internationally for her extraordinary paintings of Abraham Lincoln. Her artwork has been exhibited at major venues around the country. In 2009, the year of the Lincoln Bicentennial, her works were displayed at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., alongside those of Robert Rauschenberg, Salvador Dali, and Norman Rockwell. Also in that year, CNN aired an interview about Allen’s unique career. In 2010, Allen’s opened her own studio/gallery, Lincoln Into Art, in Gettysburg, PA, in 2010.

Wendy Allen’s multimedia presentation, “Searching for the Exact Location of America’s Soul: An Artist’s Pursuit,” explores her dedication to painting Lincoln and the many influences that have fueled this devotion, from the sculptures by Sarah Fisher Ames, who knew Lincoln, to the 20th-century presidential portraits by Elaine deKooning.
