Dr. John Sotos's books, The Physical Lincoln and The Physical Lincoln Sourcebook, show that Abraham Lincoln bore all the physical features of an extremely rare disease called MEN2B. Photographs of Lincoln show many of these features. MEN2B is a genetic disease that, left untreated, causes cancers in everyone it afflicts. Almost certainly, Lincoln inherited it from his mother and passed it to sons Tad, Willie, and Eddie. MEN2B cancers killed or helped kill all of them, and would have killed President Lincoln within months if the assassin had failed. MEN2B also misled Lincoln's contemporaries (and historians) into believing he had depression, and misled Lincoln into thinking the Civil War was eating his life out. It was MEN2B. Dr. Sotos is Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Dartmouth (mathematics, chemistry), Stanford (computer science), and Johns Hopkins (M.D.). On the Osler Medical Service at Hopkins he trained in internal medicine, cardiology, and transplantation cardiology. He is in his 28th year as a flight surgeon in the Air National Guard. His early work in history established that William Howard Taft had severe obstructive sleep apnea while President. He has written three books, holds seven patents, is a board member of the American Sleep Apnea Association, and was for six seasons a medical consultant to the acclaimed television series, "House, MD."
