Ed Steers-Abraham Lincoln as an American icon
Presenter: Edward Steers, Prominent Abraham Lincoln Historian
The Lincoln Group of DC is proud to announce that our December 3, 2019 speaker will be Edward Steers. Most Lincoln Group members probably know Ed, who served many years on the Lincoln Group board, as president, and as newsletter editor. Steers is considered one of the leading authorities on the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, having authored many books on Lincoln’s death. Among them are the classics: “Blood on the Moon,” “The Lincoln Assassination Encyclopedia,” “The Trial” and “The Lincoln Assassination Conspirators” (with Harold Holzer). He has won numerous awards, including from the Lincoln Group of DC, the Lincoln Group of New York, and most recently, the prestigious Richard Nelson Current Award of Achievement from the Lincoln Forum.
Steers will present his insights on why Lincoln became an American icon and how that affects our knowledge of history. Both current day parties claim the mantle of Lincoln, but which (if any) actually reflects Lincoln’s principles and values? This promises to be a lively and informative talk by one of the nation’s most prominent Lincoln experts.
Note that this is a LUNCHEON rather than a dinner and will be help early in the month because our host restaurant Maggiano’s must fit us in among numerous holiday parties. Mark your calendar for lunch on December 3rd and join us for a great presentation by Ed Steers.
